Rohan Fire Temple Garden sneak peek

by: Bhim Naldoza On Thursday, April 30, 2009 0 comments

Hold it right there dear fellow gamers, this patch is not yet applicable for Rohan PH. This is a preview of what we expect for the next coming months soon to be patch in our local server.

Rohan Online: Blood Feud publisher YNK Interactive announced an expansion to their MMORPG Rohan US version, by adding a new dungeon, The Fire Temple Garden early of 2009 right before its commercial launch and the inclusion of Giant class in the MMORPG Rohan Online : Blood Feud server. The Fire Temple Garden is divided into four different regions, The Blazing Temple, The Ring of Flames, The Lamp of Flames, and Kasa's Tower. Access to these areas is obtained by completing a series of quests, which has been added along with The Fire Temple Garden. The 16 new quests are challenging and specifically designed for players who are level 80 or above.

16 new quests were added to the game in the patch, and all of these are found in the new dungeon. A system to fuse Option Stones was also introduced, allowing players to fuse multiple stones of the same grade to form a better one. The other main update is a new sidekick called Molly that can be purchased from the Item Mall. Molly can be used to heal your character every two minutes, and she can be leveled up a bit to increase her healing powers.

The Fire Temple Garden came shortly after the opening of a new level at Rahkon Dungeon. The positive feedback of the level addition from the players encouraged developers to add an entirely new dungeon for this and the years to come, which is only the beginning to the Rohan: Blood Feud expansion this year.

As for our local version of Rohan Online: Vengeance is always an option, there will be an exciting new event and discounted items including the addition of Lvl 7 skill stone and also new item mall pets like the speed hawk and the power tiger that will gonna be available in the Item Mall.

Top 5 Free Anti Virus Software

by: Bhim Naldoza On Monday, April 27, 2009 0 comments
Local Online gaming in the Philippines are very much popular and most of the internet shops and iCafes in all corners of the country making big bucks on their businesses either big or small. Since the main idea of the iCafe business in the country were generally focusing on services like net surfing, downloading & uploading medias, emails and the most users going to play their favorite online games. Here is a sample of a review we got from a very credible site (www.technize.com) which we definitely recommends and agreed because we also tested the software products listed and we considered most of the advantages from the given software that will certainly match the needs for a "free" software security product to be use in a simple home end users and also for a cafe owners with several numbers of units to safe guard its system in most viruses and malwares threats, that will ease most of the worries and for generating good business outcome here in the Philippines today. We definitely recommends what the author choices of product and we surely believe that the compatibility and effectiveness will also work for all types iCafes set-ups. Here's what the review is all about, hope it will help you choose the best free anti virus software available that are flexible, light weight and very powerful for safe guarding each piece of units for an iCafe establishments.

Quoted from: Sanix
There has been a lot of debate on which software is the best, which takes the most resources and which is not good at catching viruses. Apart from all of the discussion, I am collecting all the free anti viruses which I have used at one time or the other. I have found all of them to be doing a good job atleast in terms of ROI as they are free. I’m listing top 5 free anti viruses which I have used. If anyone of the readers has used some other good anti virus which is also free, please let us know through comments. ( www. technize.com )

AVG Antivirus
The first one which I would like to quote is AVG as I have used it for a long time and have been satisfied with its performance. Lately I have noticed that it didn’t detect some of the latest viruses but that may be because I don’t update my antivirus frequently. It can be downloaded from here:

AVG Free Edition 8.0.169 ( Size - 47.7 MB )

RISING Antivirus

I know this will be a new name to many and it is relatively a new antivirus. I got it a few months back and installed it on one of my test systems and then installed it on one of my client’s PC and it has been impressive. I felt save after I installed it as it caught most of the viruses which AVG was not able to catch and it’s security is more stronger than AVG. So I would recommend Rising Antivirus if you’re looking for a good anti virus for your home system which doesn’t take a lot of resources and keeps the system safe. It can be downloaded from here:

Rising Antivirus Free Edition 20.56 (Size - 54.2 MB )

AVAST Antivirus

I have used AVAST long time back but it’s really good because it’s light weight, doesn’t take much resources and it’s fast in scanning. It has got boot time scanning which makes it less vulnerable to startup viruses and worms. The problem lies in it’s detection of viruses. It’s not as quick as other antiviruses in catching the viruses. It can be downloaded from the following location:

Avast Antivirus 4.8 Home Edition ( Size - 26.2 MB )

AVIRA Antivir

Avira Antivir has a very good reputation for it’s low system resources and high detection rates. It can be very reliable in protecting home computers. The confidence in Avira Antivir is built more after seeing it’s user base. It has got about 15 million satisfied users around the globe. The down side of it is that it’s scanning is very slow. It can be downloaded from the following link:
Avira AntiVir Personal 8.1 ( Size - 23.9 MB )

COMODO Antivirus

Last but not the least, Comodo Antivirus is another ultra light weight antivirus with blazing speed scanner. It has a nice user interface. But the problem with Comodo antivirus is that of its detection rate. It’s detection rate is not all the good so one can’t feel safe with Comodo Antivirus. It can be downloaded from the following location:

Comodo Antivirus 2.0 Beta ( Size - 34.6 MB )

sources: posted by Sanix - http://www.technize.com/

In addition > we also recommends to try other several anti virus software in the market today that will also match or even surpasses those above labels being presented, of course its free to try. If the products given above are not that very best in the world or not even an effective tool to pleased some of the users. Then, we believe it will be able to marked a difference base on the needs and trends here in our country that in most cases were all looking for an easy to use, light weight and very economically, free of charge tools and services with the same line of advantages and benefits compared to other paid software available in the market today.

You are free to give us any feed backs or comments regarding this topic.

Open Beta starts 9pm ( GMT +8 time )

by: Bhim Naldoza On Thursday, April 23, 2009 0 comments
MAYN Interactive Pte Ltd., begins open beta today for TwelveSky 2 - Rise of the Sky Clan, a Free-to-Play, Massively Multiplayer Online Role Play Game (MMORPG).
To mark this very symbolic occasion of TwelveSky 2, players can expect special events for the launch of Open Beta, including extra drop rate and extra experience gained from killing monsters, together with cheaper potions being sold on our NPCs. Scheduled player vs player battles and wars will resume as players battle out with each other to do their clan proud.

Twelve Sky 2's main focus is the PvP Battles and wars. They have level branched off wars starting at level 10, and every 10 levels. In each war, players in the respective level will be notified 5 minute of the start, and be asked whether he or she wants to participate at the last minute. When entered, players are to wait 1 minute at their corner, a gate is closed in front of them, closing them off from the battlefield at first. When the war begins, gates are broken and it's spartan time. Continue reading on the types of wars and a small guide on each branch.

OPEN BETA STARTS ON THE 23rd of APRIL 9PM GMT ( All can play, there is no IP blocking )
Shadeglow server will remain open and there will be no deletion of Phase 2 characters.
A new server, Waterburn, will also be available, however you cannot transfer your
Shadeglow character to this server, you will need to create a new one.

There are 3 classes available in 12sky 2, namely the Imperial Dragon, Royal Snake and lastly the Fierce Tiger. Of course there is also a new clan named Ancient Sky but it is only accessible at high lvls.

IMPERIAL DRAGON

A relatively balanced society, the Dragon Clan has some of the most well-rounded warriors. While Northern Dragons typically practice with both Light and Heavy Sword, those from the South defeat foes by projecting their Spirit with a weapon called "Marble."

ROYAL SNAKE

Although physically weak, the Snake Clan is more than "just" an opponent. Due to their quick reflexes combined with their superior weapons, enemies swiftly fall beneath their feet!

The Snakes are renowned for their unique weapon, the Lute, preferred weapon amongst coy and devious assassins. While friendly in appearance, the sound wave from the Royal Lute can be manipulated to cause tremendous pain

FIERCE TIGER

If there was a Yin-Yang in the forces of nature, the Fierce Tiger Clan would be the polar opposite of the Royal Snake Clan. Far superior in terms of sheer strength, the Tigers even outmatch the Dragon Clan in stature.

Nevertheless, do not be deceived by their slow response, as their massive weapons can dish out massive damage - something too many unfortunate challengers have overlooked.

*All descriptions can be found on 12sky2's homepage.

To summarise the above, Dragon are the balanced class, Snake has higher quality of items but lower stats and Tiger has better stats but lower quality of items. Personally I would pick the Tiger Clan because of their huge and gigantic weapons that look more domineering in comparison to the Dragon's & Snake's.

Besides the gameplay, the GMs and management team are also helpful and friendly when it comes to game support / troubleshooting on the forum or ingame. I hope more players will join the game when the open beta starts to make the game community a livelier one - posted by QH @ compraider@blogspot

Grinding can be mind numbingly boring and yet loads of people do it on a daily basis. It is a well entrenched part of many MMO games so if we are stuck with it how do you prevent yourself from slipping into a boredom coma? Here are a few suggestions on how to deal with the grind.

Why Grind?
Everyone who plays MMO games will be familiar with the term grinding. Grinding is usually a simple way of gaining experience, levelling up your character and making money by performing a mind numbing repetitive action like killing an AI creature. World of Warcraft is renowned for grinding and since so many games have attempted to emulate their success the model they have adopted is very popular elsewhere as well.

There is no skill involved in grinding it is merely time consuming. With all the fun of repeatedly pressing an attack button the only reason to do it is because it is the easiest and most effective way of gaining experience and finding gold and material rewards. For gamers who prefer PvP gaming grinding lets them level up for combat as quickly as possible.

There are various types of grinding; solo monster slaying is the most basic. You can also complete quests to gain experience and grind along the way but in general they take longer and the rewards are less. Mob grinding is another possibility, groups teaming up to slaughter monsters but is it any less boring? You can check out this link to read about more of the problems with quest heavy advancement versus mob grinding.

Chat or Watch TV
So assuming we are stuck with grinding to some extent, because some people will always take the path of least resistance, then how can you deal with it? How do you combat the boredom?

You could spend the time chatting to friends using in-game chat interface, YM chats or team speak. Who knows you might make a new friend or find love. You could even use a hands free set for your cell phone to catch up with family and friends while you play. Grinding doesn’t really require your full attention so it is easy to chat at the same time.

Another possibility is to watch television, especially if you have a set close to your computer. If you can see both screens at the same time you can watch something and grind at the same time. If you don’t have a television nearby then put some music on. Music is often great for letting you switch off and relax.

Gigassoft'sTwelve Sky 2 Bigboss Interviewed by MMOsite

by: Bhim Naldoza On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 0 comments

Released at the end of 2003, Twelve Sky 1 is a martial arts MMORPG which has been in service in South Korea for five years. As time goes on, Twelve Sky is a little outdated in some aspects. In 2007, the developer GigasSoft put great efforts into it's expansion, from which we can see great improvements in the graphics. However, an expansion is not enough to solve all the problems, and making a sequel is considered as the best choice. And so comes Twelve Sky 2. At this year's Chinajoy we had the opportunity to talk with Seo Hyojung, the strategic division director of Gigassoft, and let him show more details of the Twelve Sky 2 to us.

Last year's Chinajoy, MMOSITE had the opportunity to talk with Seo Hyojung, the strategic division director of Gigassoft, and let him show more details of the Twelve Sky 2 to us.Here are some of the previews and informations revealed by Gigassoft's BigBoss.

MMOsite: Hello, thanks for taking our interview. Can you give us a brief introduction to your development team and your company Gigassoft to our readers?

Seo Hyojung: Thank you! About our development team, we are very proud that the team developed our own game engine, GXD, which is now used in Twelve Sky. And the upgraded GXD engine has already been adopted in Twelve Sky 2. I think some users may have already felt the obvious graphic improvements of the upgraded game engine in the Korean version Twelve Sky 2. And currently, we are preparing to set up a new studio in China. I think you see some new titles developed by this studio in the future.

MMOsite: Do you have any exciting news relating to ChinaJoy 2008 to share with us? What titles are you showcasing at this year's ChinaJoy? Any new titles?

Seo Hyojung: I just said that our new title, Twelve Sky 2, has a booth on this year's ChinaJoy! So, the Chinese players will be able to enjoy it before the end of this year.

And certainly, we have several other titles under development. But since they are not finished, you can not see them on this year's ChinaJoy. But I believe players will be able to see them in the near future!

MMOsite: OK, let's talk something about Twelve Sky. First, as an introductory overview, how will you describe Twelve Sky to those who are unfamiliar with this game?

Seo Hyojung: High level-up speed, exciting PVP system, simple UI and easy control! And the most important thing is that new players can always find help and friends in the game.

MMOsite: Twelve Sky is well known for its unique battle system. Can you basically introduce the system to us? Are there any innovative elements which set it aside from other fantasy MMORPGs?

Seo Hyojung: Yes, we are very proud with the battle system in Twelve Sky. It's the most appealing part in our game actually. You know, after level 30, players can get into battle fields and fight with the other factions. If you win, you will have the right to use some specific dungeons, where special rewards exist. And after level 70, players are able to join in a specific battlefield, Yongok Valley. You can break the other factions' shields there and invade into their maps.

For innovative elements, I think the most successful part we did is to bind PVP system with Twelve Sky seamlessly! That's exactly what makes our game stand out from the other MMORPGs!

MMOsite: Normally, there are only two opposite factions in an MMO game, but in Twelve Sky, there are three factions. When two factions are in battle, how will the third faction influence the battle outcome? What led you to design it in such a way?

Seo Hyojung: There is a saying: "The wolf has a winning game when the shepherds quarrel!" In our game, players sometimes may find they are defeated by the third faction hidden behind even they win the first round. So, you have to have strategies to win a battle! That makes the battle outcome unexpected, and certainly more attractive.

MMOsite: What's your favorite feature of the game? Why do you believe the game will be appealing to the western users?

Seo Hyojung: We just talked a lot about the battle system. And certainly this is my favorite feature.

And since Twelve Sky is an oriental fantasy MMORPG, it has many oriental elements, such as martial arts, drinking and etc. All these are very mysterious to the western players. And from players' reactions to our North America version, I think Twelve Sky has already been proved appealing to western players.

MMOsite: What is the market performance of Twelve Sky in North America? Does it live up to your expectations? When can we expect your next update on the game? What new content will you add in the update?

Seo Hyojung: Twelve Sky's performance in North America is good. You know, we just opened a new world last week.

For updates, we are always collecting players' ideas and trying our best to adopt them in the game. In the early of this month, we opened a new map, Colgu Cave. Players like it very much. And we are now planning to add more new contents and maps for North American players. You will probably see them soon.

MMOsite: Would you mind if we talk something about Twelve Sky 2Can you basically introduce it to our readers? When did you start the development work on this new MMORPG? How does its backstory or storyline relate to Twelve Sky and where will it go?

Seo Hyojung: I would like very much to introduce Twelve Sky 2 to the readers.

Actually, Twelve Sky 2 is the continuation of Twelve Sky's story. Our development team started to develop it 3 year's ago. During the development process, we updated the game engine and changed the game systems. So, the graphics of Twelve Sky 2 is much better than Twelve Sky. And you will also see the battle system changed greatly. In the new battle system, players will be able to get into battle fields and fight with each other from level 10.

And I can tell you that there is a new special faction added in Twelve Sky 2. I'm sure players will have more fun with this new faction.

Anyway, Twelve Sky 2 is not only a continuation of Twelve Sky. It's more a new game. So, no matter you played Twelve Sky before or not, Twelve Sky 2 is worth trying. And I'm sure you will like it.

MMOsite: Twelve Sky 2 has gone closed beta in South Korea. Do you have any plan to export Twelve Sky 2 to the western market? Have you decided on the publisher? Can you give us a rough schedule for its closed beta, open beta and official launch?

Seo Hyojung: We are currently contacting several publishers in North America and Europe. But we are still in negation. So, it's not decided yet who will finally publish it.

And currently there is still no schedule about closed Beta, open Beta and official launch. But we'll do our best to make it available for the players in North America and Europe.

MMOsite: Do you have anything more we didn't involve in this interview that you'd like to tell our readers?

Seo Hyojung: We are very grateful that mmosite.com gave us this interview! We would also like to thank the players who are playing and supporting our game. We hope to launch Twelve Sky 2 to North America and Europe soon. And we hope all the players can have more fun in our games! Thanks!

Asian Media hosted Exteel SEA

by: Bhim Naldoza On Monday, April 20, 2009 0 comments
On September 1, 2008, Korean gaming company NCsoft and Asian Media Development Group reached another corporate partnership milestone with AsianMedia’s acquisition of Exteel, an online game published by NCsoft. In a signed agreement, Asian Media earned the right to publish Exteel in the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

Exteel is a third-person shooter online game where players control giant mechanaughts, or humanoid robots, against other online players. Fast paced, easy arcade controls and a rich selection of items best describe the extreme gameplay that Exteel offers.

Exteel was released on December 4, 2007 on a free-to-play system, under which players can play the game for free. Players have the option to purchase in-game items and equipments using real money from the item malls. It is being successfully serviced in South Korea, Taiwan, North America and various European countries.

Exteel’s developer, NCSoft, is the biggest South Korean company that produces and publishes online video games. Its sterling resume includes the acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) Lineage II and Guild Wars. Since its inception in 1997, NCsoft has already expanded worldwide, with six (6) subsidiary companies abroad.

NCSoft made history when its MMORPG Lineage became the first online game in Korea to tally 100,000 concurrent users. Lineage’s active user subscription later bloomed to almost three million, making it one of the widely-played online games. Lineage’s popularity became the cornerstone of NCsoft’s success in the industry.

As part of its worldwide movement, NCsoft engaged the cooperation of AsianMedia for its operation in South East Asia (SEA). AsianMedia’s commendable status as the leading distributor of games in the region got the attention of NCsoft for its SEA expansion. The cooperation gave AsianMedia the exclusive right to host Lineage II in the region.

AsianMedia is a Philippine-based company but is now rapidly expanding their reach into Singapore and Malaysia. Only established in 1999, it already has a diverse cyber café network (more than 90% in the Philippines) and over 200 retail outlets. In 2003, AsianMedia bagged another prize partner when it was chosen by Vivendi Universal Games (VUG) as its sole distributor in the region. VUG is the genius behind hit games such as Counterstrike and Warcraft.

With Exteel, the two companies plan to expand the gamers’ experience. Plans are already in motion for the beta testing of Exteel on the 1st quarter of 2009. Gamers will be given first-hand experience on the new game’s graphics, interactivity and gameplay. After a series of tests, the commercial launch will then follow shortly.

The contract is a testament to the ongoing partnership between the two companies. For NCsoft, this is its first time to allow in-house developed casual games to be serviced by a partner company abroad, in this case, AsianMedia. For AsianMedia, the game adds to the array of commercially successful games that it has already distributed and published, chief of them, the online game Lineage II. AsianMedia currently has plans to enter the free-to-play game services.
