Twelve Sky 2 Interview

by: Bhim Naldoza On Tuesday, May 05, 2009 0 comments
Twelve Sky 2 is the PvP-oriented massively multiplayer sequel that will soon join free to play publisher Aeria Games' popular selection. Developed by ALT1, it offers these three factions from its predecessor, and will also add a fourth, the Nangin, which characters join in an unusual way. After advancing to a high level within any of the others, they can sever all connections in order to join the exiles..Of course, the new title will have more notable changes and additions. For example, there will be more area where players, groups and guilds can test themselves against each other, with broader ranges of both objectives and level brackets. It's also easy to see that the new graphics are up to date and competitive. In order to learn more, we posed a set of questions to Associate Producer Thomas McKay.

Richard Aihoshi - 'Jonric' of IGN.com / RPG Vault performed this interview.

Jonric: To start with, how would you summarize the original Twelve Sky? How successful has it been, and why?

Thomas McKay:
The original Twelve Sky is an oriental-style MMORPG with a major focus on player versus player (PvP) combat. There are three warring factions that compete for control of various zones in order to provide benefits for themselves or their respective factions.
New players will first have to pick among the Guanyin, Fujin, and Jinong... After that, they select one of three different starting weapons available for each faction. Each has a specific function - defense, range or damage.
Twelve Sky has over a million registered users, and has been a premier title at Aeria Games. The major contributor to this success has been the continued support of its fans; without them, we could have never grown to such heights.

Jonric: As an introduction to Twelve Sky 2, what is its underlying premise, and how is it related to the first game?

Thomas McKay:
The underlying premise of Twelve Sky 2 builds on the original game, except there are now a few major twists thrown in. The biggest change is the addition of a fourth faction, the Nangin, which is are comprised of players from each faction who have decided to leave their homelands in search of new beginnings. Players from the other three may join once they reach level 113, and fight against their former allies.

Another big improvement with Twelve Sky 2 is that there are PvP battles starting at level 10. This allows new players to get a taste for battle much more quickly than in the original.

Jonric: What differentiates this title from the ever-increasing number of choices available to fans of the massively multiplayer category?

Thomas McKay:
Twelve Sky 2 has a very unique blend of PvP and PvE. Being able to gain experience and items from the former is something that set the original Twelve Sky apart from the competition. Along with this, there are other rewards that only come from PvP, such as articles that allow you entrance into great PvE areas. This is an excellent way to keep the game fresh and get the players involved in the complete experience.

Jonric: Please introduce the developer of the game, ALT1. What led to the decision to make a sequel, and when did development begin?

Thomas McKay:
ALT1 (formerly Gigassoft) has been working with us since the beginning of Twelve Sky 1. They have been active in providing feedback and additional content changes. They share our passion for making Twelve Sky 2 even more successful than its predecessor.

Our understanding is that the developer had originally intended to make a major update to Twelve Sky. However, the engine did not allow them change everything that they wanted. Eventually their idea evolved into a new game, and then, they began adding other new content and trying to improve on features of the original.

Jonric: In addition to the new faction you already mentioned, what are the main changes, improvements and additions?

Thomas McKay:
The most notable changes in Twelve Sky 2 are the graphic and quest systems. They have both received major overhauls. I was completely blown away when I first saw the visuals. The character models looked amazing, and the weapon designs had me pumped from the get go. I am sure anyone who has seen the new Marble weapon model will agree. =)

The original quest system was lacking, to say the least. It wasn't able to offer multiple tasks per level, and was not easy to follow. With that in mind, ALT1 was able to create a new, intuitive structure for Twelve Sky 2.

Jonric: What choices do players have when they create their characters? What steps are involved in this stage?

Thomas McKay:
New players will first have to pick among the Guanyin, Fujin, and Jinong. Next, they will choose gender, face and hairstyle. After that, they select one of three different starting weapons available for each faction. Each has a specific function - defense, range or damage.

Jonric: Once they move out into the world and begin adventuring, what type of long-term advancement system applies?

Thomas McKay:
At each new level, players gain skill points (the amount depends on the level) and five stat points. At later levels, they no longer receive either, but rather stat bonuses. Skill points can be spent to buy new skills or improve the ones you already have. If you make a mistake when assigning points or stats, there are items in both the game and the item mall that will let you redistribute them.
If you haven't gotten a change to try out the Twelve Sky series, there is no better time than now... your time will be well spent since you will have the opportunity to transfer your character from Twelve Sky to Twelve Sky 2.
Jonric: Since we would naturally assume armor and weapons are important in a game that emphasizes PvP, what type of system is there for them?

Thomas McKay:
All armor and weapons can be upgraded and enchanted to provide major boost to the item in question, increasing its damage or defense. When you enchant a weapon successfully, its appearance will also change, adding a glow depending on the level of the improvement. This allows other players to identify how strong it is without being able to see the specific number.

Jonric: Can we expect to see a pet or mount system in Twleve Sky 2, and what can you tell us about these elements at this time?

Thomas McKay:
Not only do the pets in Twelve Sky 2 look amazing, they also provide help in PvP and PvE. They can be obtained from both as well. A pet will level along with its master, and as it gets higher experience, the benefit increases and its appearance changes.

We also have a mount system coming soon, and we should have more details to announce about it in the near future.

Jonric: What happens when your character dies? Are there penalties such as the loss of items or experience points?

Thomas McKay:
Depending on where or how the player dies, the death penalty is different. Those who die in PvP battles are teleported to the main town, with no other consequences. However, defeat when fighting a monster means losing a small amount of experience. There will be items available that will prevent this from happening.

Jonric: Since community is so critical for any MMOG, what are your key goals in this area? What kinds of support will you provide, both in the game and outside?

Thomas McKay:
We are committed to providing players with the best experience possible. They will often see our GMs running in-game events, running contests, socializing with the community, and posting in the forums.

We also have formed a team of volunteers we refer to as Game Sages, who go farther to work directly with the fans, and report any problems they see back to us. The community is the heart and soul of our game, and without them we have nothing.

Jonric: Are there other notable aspects of the game you'd like to discuss? Do you have any final thoughts to wrap up the interview?

Thomas McKay:
If you haven't gotten a change to try out the Twelve Sky series, there is no better time than now. We are running promotions and events every day, so hop in and give it a try. Remember that your time will be well spent since you will have the opportunity to transfer your character from Twelve Sky to Twelve Sky 2.

I would also like to thank all the members of the Twelve Sky community. Without them, this game would not have been possible, so thank you so much for your dedication to making it a success.

Aeria Games has succeeded in attracting significant numbers of massively multiplayer enthusiasts to play the range of titles that comprise its free to play lineup. As a result, it seems safe to assume that Twelve Sky 2 will also attract a sizable community. Indeed, the process is under way, with closed beta having started yesterday. So, our thanks go out to Associate Producer Thomas McKay for this timely query session introducing ALT1's sequel and a number of its key features.

How to use Fraps?

by: Bhim Naldoza On Saturday, May 02, 2009 0 comments
What is Fraps?
Fraps is a universal Windows application that can be used with games using DirectX or OpenGL graphic technology. In its current form Fraps performs many tasks and can best be described as the following:

Benchmarking Software - Knowing the frame per seconds (FPS) of every game you play. Measure the frame rate between any two points.
Screen Capture Software - Taking high definition game screenshots ( Like JPEG and PNG ).
Realtime Video Capture Software - This the software to record video while playing your favorite game? Capturing your adventure while grinding, making a dance video and most of all capturing any unscrupolous behavior of other characters in-game like bots, scam, kser, looter, bully, cheaters, hackers and among others. The best tool in producing an evidence in reporting and ticket filing to the game publisher for proper investigation and action.

How to use it?
First you must download and install the latest free version software from their Official site:

Fraps 2.9.8 is now available for Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and x64 Editions. File size at 965 kb

Note: Free version of Fraps only allows you to capture 30secs of video per trigger and its only enable at full screen set up.

After installing an icon will appear on your desktop like this image below:

By double clicking the icon given above it will let you open the interface. And the notification icon will appear in your task bar letting you know that fraps is now enable and active.

Once you have it open there is a red help tab in the bottom right corner to click anytime you need help you can use this feature to learn the more advanced settings for now we will just go through the basics so you can record.

How to configure your settings?

At General Tab this shown what exactly as a default setting.

Click the fps tab and you will see overlay display hotkey and benchmarking hotkey with a blue disabler tab beside each click them both to disable the function.( This function is for FPS bench marking purposes allows you to check the game frame rates from your system )

At Movies tab, this is the setting tab for capturing videos.

You can edit the location of your video file in other location in your computer you would like your video to be save ( ex: c:\Documents and Settings )
If you want to change it click the blue change tab it will bring up a box you simply find the folder you want to put the video in click it to highlight it and click ok.

Next is to set the video capture hotkey (Note: that most games have different control key panel - use a hotkey that is available and not actively support any action in-game ) Tip: In the game Rohan Online you can use F9 or F10.

Another tab is for Screen shots in the game, You'll see "folder to save screenshots in" with the blue change tab you can make a desktop folder or leave it at the default

Set your hot key same manner as the movie section again choose a key you dont use in the game.

Below the screen capture hot key you can click a box to repeat screen capture every so many seconds until you hit the hot key again just click the box and set the number of seconds in between shots. You can actually do a burst still capture shots by setting the repeat action time of your chosen shot duration.

Note: Dont mind the yellow numbering in the upper left corner of the screen it is use to preview your current fps.

Again, How to take screenshots and record video

1.You start up fraps.
2.Enter the game in FULL SCREEN you will see yellow numbers in the corner of the screen as you play.
3.Hit the hotkey for screenshots to take a pic.
4.Hit the hot key for video to start video the numbers will turn red .
5.Hit the hot key again to stop video if you didnt get what you were trying to kust hit the hotkey again and take another video.
6.Your video and screen shots will be saved in the default folder previously mentioned.

These are the basics. All you need to capture video or take screenshots with fraps if you want to know the more about the advanced features just click the red help tab in the lower right corner.

What do you do with them once you have them?

For screenshots you have to upload them in image hosting site like:
Imageshack, Photobucket, or Tinypic ( Registration required )

For video hosting the most popular site will be YouTube video hosting
You may have to edit the video for size and quality so I added another guide in a post below.
You have to sign up for an account for youtube. Once uploaded you will get links to put in forums posts and emails .

Note: Be very careful in uploading things, do not alter, tamper or edit anything you got from screenshots or videos if this are for the purpose of reporting a character or behavior in game for the publisher recommendation and further investigation.

Otherwise if the things you collected are for blogging, forum viewing, archiving and events you may do as you wish.

Many Thanks to Wolfheart of Aeria Games forum

Rohan Fire Temple Garden sneak peek

by: Bhim Naldoza On Thursday, April 30, 2009 0 comments

Hold it right there dear fellow gamers, this patch is not yet applicable for Rohan PH. This is a preview of what we expect for the next coming months soon to be patch in our local server.

Rohan Online: Blood Feud publisher YNK Interactive announced an expansion to their MMORPG Rohan US version, by adding a new dungeon, The Fire Temple Garden early of 2009 right before its commercial launch and the inclusion of Giant class in the MMORPG Rohan Online : Blood Feud server. The Fire Temple Garden is divided into four different regions, The Blazing Temple, The Ring of Flames, The Lamp of Flames, and Kasa's Tower. Access to these areas is obtained by completing a series of quests, which has been added along with The Fire Temple Garden. The 16 new quests are challenging and specifically designed for players who are level 80 or above.

16 new quests were added to the game in the patch, and all of these are found in the new dungeon. A system to fuse Option Stones was also introduced, allowing players to fuse multiple stones of the same grade to form a better one. The other main update is a new sidekick called Molly that can be purchased from the Item Mall. Molly can be used to heal your character every two minutes, and she can be leveled up a bit to increase her healing powers.

The Fire Temple Garden came shortly after the opening of a new level at Rahkon Dungeon. The positive feedback of the level addition from the players encouraged developers to add an entirely new dungeon for this and the years to come, which is only the beginning to the Rohan: Blood Feud expansion this year.

As for our local version of Rohan Online: Vengeance is always an option, there will be an exciting new event and discounted items including the addition of Lvl 7 skill stone and also new item mall pets like the speed hawk and the power tiger that will gonna be available in the Item Mall.

Lol, I was laughing so hard when i saw this version of a dance video created for Rohan Online Japan server several years back. Its really crazy to see male characters of the game "Rohan Online" dancing to the tune of Hiphop /Rap music then showing all their maneuvering stuff. Well it's pretty obvious that the person who did this video really done a very good job and a well done effort, kampai for you my friends. Top 5 Free Anti Virus Software

by: Bhim Naldoza On Monday, April 27, 2009 0 comments
Local Online gaming in the Philippines are very much popular and most of the internet shops and iCafes in all corners of the country making big bucks on their businesses either big or small. Since the main idea of the iCafe business in the country were generally focusing on services like net surfing, downloading & uploading medias, emails and the most users going to play their favorite online games. Here is a sample of a review we got from a very credible site (www.technize.com) which we definitely recommends and agreed because we also tested the software products listed and we considered most of the advantages from the given software that will certainly match the needs for a "free" software security product to be use in a simple home end users and also for a cafe owners with several numbers of units to safe guard its system in most viruses and malwares threats, that will ease most of the worries and for generating good business outcome here in the Philippines today. We definitely recommends what the author choices of product and we surely believe that the compatibility and effectiveness will also work for all types iCafes set-ups. Here's what the review is all about, hope it will help you choose the best free anti virus software available that are flexible, light weight and very powerful for safe guarding each piece of units for an iCafe establishments.

Quoted from: Sanix
There has been a lot of debate on which software is the best, which takes the most resources and which is not good at catching viruses. Apart from all of the discussion, I am collecting all the free anti viruses which I have used at one time or the other. I have found all of them to be doing a good job atleast in terms of ROI as they are free. I’m listing top 5 free anti viruses which I have used. If anyone of the readers has used some other good anti virus which is also free, please let us know through comments. ( www. technize.com )

AVG Antivirus
The first one which I would like to quote is AVG as I have used it for a long time and have been satisfied with its performance. Lately I have noticed that it didn’t detect some of the latest viruses but that may be because I don’t update my antivirus frequently. It can be downloaded from here:

AVG Free Edition 8.0.169 ( Size - 47.7 MB )

RISING Antivirus

I know this will be a new name to many and it is relatively a new antivirus. I got it a few months back and installed it on one of my test systems and then installed it on one of my client’s PC and it has been impressive. I felt save after I installed it as it caught most of the viruses which AVG was not able to catch and it’s security is more stronger than AVG. So I would recommend Rising Antivirus if you’re looking for a good anti virus for your home system which doesn’t take a lot of resources and keeps the system safe. It can be downloaded from here:

Rising Antivirus Free Edition 20.56 (Size - 54.2 MB )

AVAST Antivirus

I have used AVAST long time back but it’s really good because it’s light weight, doesn’t take much resources and it’s fast in scanning. It has got boot time scanning which makes it less vulnerable to startup viruses and worms. The problem lies in it’s detection of viruses. It’s not as quick as other antiviruses in catching the viruses. It can be downloaded from the following location:

Avast Antivirus 4.8 Home Edition ( Size - 26.2 MB )

AVIRA Antivir

Avira Antivir has a very good reputation for it’s low system resources and high detection rates. It can be very reliable in protecting home computers. The confidence in Avira Antivir is built more after seeing it’s user base. It has got about 15 million satisfied users around the globe. The down side of it is that it’s scanning is very slow. It can be downloaded from the following link:
Avira AntiVir Personal 8.1 ( Size - 23.9 MB )

COMODO Antivirus

Last but not the least, Comodo Antivirus is another ultra light weight antivirus with blazing speed scanner. It has a nice user interface. But the problem with Comodo antivirus is that of its detection rate. It’s detection rate is not all the good so one can’t feel safe with Comodo Antivirus. It can be downloaded from the following location:

Comodo Antivirus 2.0 Beta ( Size - 34.6 MB )

sources: posted by Sanix - http://www.technize.com/

In addition > we also recommends to try other several anti virus software in the market today that will also match or even surpasses those above labels being presented, of course its free to try. If the products given above are not that very best in the world or not even an effective tool to pleased some of the users. Then, we believe it will be able to marked a difference base on the needs and trends here in our country that in most cases were all looking for an easy to use, light weight and very economically, free of charge tools and services with the same line of advantages and benefits compared to other paid software available in the market today.

You are free to give us any feed backs or comments regarding this topic.

Open Beta starts 9pm ( GMT +8 time )

by: Bhim Naldoza On Thursday, April 23, 2009 0 comments
MAYN Interactive Pte Ltd., begins open beta today for TwelveSky 2 - Rise of the Sky Clan, a Free-to-Play, Massively Multiplayer Online Role Play Game (MMORPG).
To mark this very symbolic occasion of TwelveSky 2, players can expect special events for the launch of Open Beta, including extra drop rate and extra experience gained from killing monsters, together with cheaper potions being sold on our NPCs. Scheduled player vs player battles and wars will resume as players battle out with each other to do their clan proud.

Twelve Sky 2's main focus is the PvP Battles and wars. They have level branched off wars starting at level 10, and every 10 levels. In each war, players in the respective level will be notified 5 minute of the start, and be asked whether he or she wants to participate at the last minute. When entered, players are to wait 1 minute at their corner, a gate is closed in front of them, closing them off from the battlefield at first. When the war begins, gates are broken and it's spartan time. Continue reading on the types of wars and a small guide on each branch.

OPEN BETA STARTS ON THE 23rd of APRIL 9PM GMT ( All can play, there is no IP blocking )
Shadeglow server will remain open and there will be no deletion of Phase 2 characters.
A new server, Waterburn, will also be available, however you cannot transfer your
Shadeglow character to this server, you will need to create a new one.

There are 3 classes available in 12sky 2, namely the Imperial Dragon, Royal Snake and lastly the Fierce Tiger. Of course there is also a new clan named Ancient Sky but it is only accessible at high lvls.

IMPERIAL DRAGON

A relatively balanced society, the Dragon Clan has some of the most well-rounded warriors. While Northern Dragons typically practice with both Light and Heavy Sword, those from the South defeat foes by projecting their Spirit with a weapon called "Marble."

ROYAL SNAKE

Although physically weak, the Snake Clan is more than "just" an opponent. Due to their quick reflexes combined with their superior weapons, enemies swiftly fall beneath their feet!

The Snakes are renowned for their unique weapon, the Lute, preferred weapon amongst coy and devious assassins. While friendly in appearance, the sound wave from the Royal Lute can be manipulated to cause tremendous pain

FIERCE TIGER

If there was a Yin-Yang in the forces of nature, the Fierce Tiger Clan would be the polar opposite of the Royal Snake Clan. Far superior in terms of sheer strength, the Tigers even outmatch the Dragon Clan in stature.

Nevertheless, do not be deceived by their slow response, as their massive weapons can dish out massive damage - something too many unfortunate challengers have overlooked.

*All descriptions can be found on 12sky2's homepage.

To summarise the above, Dragon are the balanced class, Snake has higher quality of items but lower stats and Tiger has better stats but lower quality of items. Personally I would pick the Tiger Clan because of their huge and gigantic weapons that look more domineering in comparison to the Dragon's & Snake's.

Besides the gameplay, the GMs and management team are also helpful and friendly when it comes to game support / troubleshooting on the forum or ingame. I hope more players will join the game when the open beta starts to make the game community a livelier one - posted by QH @ compraider@blogspot
